Signing Ceremony of Foreigner Talents STI Grant Agreements between FIRST Project Management Unit and UTC - Campus in Ho Chi Minh City

Approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) and World Bank (WB), FIRST (Fostering innovation through Research, Science, and Technology) project management board members met with leaders of the University of Transport and Communications – Campus in Ho Chi Minh City (UTC2) in Hanoi last Monday 20/08/2018 for an agreement of research funding. The signing ceremony was attended by Mr. Luong Van Thang, FIRST Director, and Prof. Nguyen Van Hung, Deputy Rector and Vice Director of the Campus.

As part of the research funding agreement, FIRST will finance a mini-project by UTC2 titled “The development of numerical simulation and optimization technologies for optimal performance of concrete asphalt pavements taking into account the traffic and climate conditions of Vietnam”, one of the 13 mini-projects initiated by MOST to foster innovation in research, science and technology. At $107.018 (approx. 2.450.000.000VND), this research fund is the highest amount granted to a FIRST mini-project.

The disbursement process is subject to the implementation progress of the research plan, which is supposed to take 12 months as of the date of signing the agreement.
