The Government Office has just transferred the Vingroup Group’s proposal to develop public passenger transport by electric bus to the Ministry of Transport, Hanoi People’s Committee, and HCMC People’s Committee for consideration and handling according to its competence.

Previously, Vingroup asked the Prime Minister to allow the Group to implement the project to develop public passenger transport by electric buses in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City by ordering temporarily providing public services. The temporary unit price is calculated according to the rated unit price of existing electric buses while waiting for the construction of the norm unit price for electric buses.

The time to apply the provisional unit price is one year from the commencement of the electric bus operation. When the Ministry of Transport and the two cities issue the technical and economic norms, the unit price for electric buses, the operator will pay the price subsidy exactly with the official unit price since the vehicle is put into operation.

Currently, the group has established VinBus Ecological Services Co., Ltd and set up a project to develop public passenger transportation by electric buses in big cities and send it to the People’s Committee of Hanoi and the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City for approval.

Accordingly, Vingroup will invest in vehicles, infrastructure and operate 15 electric bus routes in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City. The electric bus routes expected to be deployed in Hanoi are: Long Bien – Tran Phu – Smart City urban area; Long Bien – Cau Giay – Smart City Urban Area; Giap Bat bus station – Smart City urban area; Smart City urban area – Ho Tay water park; Smart City – Vincom Long Bien urban area; Hao Nam – Ocean Park Urban Area; My Dinh bus station – Ocean Park urban area; My Dinh (Ham Nghi) – Ocean Park Urban Area; Hanoi Department of Industry Inter-agency Area – Times City Urban Area; Urban Ocean Park – Noi Bai Airport.

In Ho Chi Minh City, the planned electric bus routes are Grand Park Urban Area – Emart Trade Center; Grand Park urban area – Tan Son Nhat airport; Grand Park Urban Area – Saigon Bus Terminal; New Eastern Bus Station – National University Urban Area.

The buses used by Vingroup have a speed of 80 km / h, a capacity of 65-70 people, Lithium-Ion batteries, no emissions.
To ensure the eligibility for electric bus routes, the group will invest in building three technical logistics depots in Smart City, Ocean Park, Grand Park urban areas. The depots will be installed with solar energy systems to contribute to the formation of green bus routes for the two largest cities in the country.
