In the context of strong international integration in all fields, especially in the field of higher education, under the proper direction of UTC Party Committee - Leader Board, in order to develop the cooperation with international and domestic universities and organizations to quickly approach, to improve the curriculum and training methods and to implement the projects on researching the application of new technologies according to integration direction and step-by-step applying educational technology 4.0, as the connecting bridge to improve the cooperation in the operation fields of the whole university, enhancing the prestige for the university as well as bringing the real benefits for lecturers and students, external activities of the University of Transport and Communications in 2017 have been carried out successfully and fruitfully. Some remarkable activities can be stated as follows:
Ceremony of Awarding Honorary Doctoral Degree to H.E Bounchanh Sinthavong – Member of Party Central Committee, Minister of Public Works and Transport of Lao PDR was solemnly organized. This event with important political significance not only confirms the contribution of the university to training the technical staff for Laos but also contributes to the development of good traditional relationship between Vietnam and Laos.
Entering the academic year 2017-2018, the University has received 40 international students, is the highest number of international students in an academic year so far, increasing the total number of international students studying at the university to 81 students including 68 students from Laos and Cambodia, 13 exchange students from France, Germany, Czech Republic and Japan.
Ceremony of Awarding the Medal “For the Cause of Education” to two German professors: Prof. Jochen Trinckauf from Technische Universität Dresden and Prof. Manfred Boltze from Technische Universität Darmstadt for their great contribution to the University which once again confirms the good relationship between University of Transport and Communications and the partner universities in Germany.
Master’s Degree in Railway Systems Engineering, in collaboration with Technische Universität Dresden of Germany, taught by lecturers of two universities, which attracted 24 students for the 1st course and is enrolling the 2nd course, is a successful international cooperation to meet the demand of training human resources for the railway sector at present.
To maintain activities as the member of international organizations and becoming the member of new organizations, the delegation led by UTC Leaders took part in several important international conferences: AUF 17th General Assembly in Morocco; 12th Regional Rector Conference of AUF in Asia-Pacific University Members in Thailand; 16th Plenary Meeting of ASEA-UNINET in Austria; 10th China-ASEAN Education Week Forum in China; 10th International Symposium for Transport Universities of Asia-Pacific Countries in Korea. Through the international organizations, many cooperative activities have been contributing to the education career and scientific research of the university.
Signing the agreements to develop the cooperation in several fields with international partners: Gannon University of America; University of Sofia Chemical Technology and Metallurgy of Bulgaria; Hiroshima University of Japan; Korea National University of Transportation; Enago Company of USA, Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation of Japan, etc aims to promote comprehensive cooperation with international partners.
Organizing many international workshops/seminars, focusing on the hot topics such as intelligent transport, smart cities, intelligent control system and logistics management that attracted many scientists inside and outside the country. International training courses attracting hundreds of participants held in Hanoi and Vientiane of Laos have been maintained for many years.
International student exchange with National Institute of Technology, Maizuru College of Japan which has been kept going on since 2009 until now is exciting, enthusiastic, friendly and united between students of two countries Vietnam and Japan. In 2018, the university will develop the student exchange with students of American and German universities.
Domestic cooperation has been paid much attention to develop. Signing cooperation between UTC and FPT Group to develop ITS in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and other cities in Vietnam is a great cooperation program, promising to improve the transport control system in modern direction.
