Along with the Industry 4.0 Revolution, transport and logistics activities are growing significantly with a sharp increase in import and export activities. According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the logistics service sector in 2018 with the previous years’ growth impetus continued to develop with the growth rates of about 12% - 14%. To achieve this, it is largely due to the growth of the economy in general and the development of import and export in particular as well as the interest in developing Logistics services of the Government and the ministries, branches and localities.
According to the World Bank’s report on Logistics Performace Index (LPI) published on July 24 2018, Vietnam ranked 39/160 countries in the research, jumped up  25 steps compared to 2016 and rose to be the 3rd nation having the highest Logistics Performace Index among ASEAN countries. Besides, Vietnam is also a top-ranking country in new markets. With these positive trends, according to VLA, Vietnam logistics services can contribute about 5% of GDP in 2017 and it extremely can also contribute more to GDP in 2025.
Logistics in the world in general and in Vietnam, in particular, is gaining stronger than ever. That development certainly promises many benefits in the future. However, it also requires overcoming a lot of difficulties and challenges. Hopefully, with proposals and plans already being implemented, Vietnam will soon resolve outstanding issues as well as make the best of the inherent advantages and opportunities to make Vietnam Logistics industry further developed.
It is certain that the University of Transport and Communications will continue to invest in high-quality lecturers, equipment, and programs to train more talents, including Logistics, to contribute to building and developing our country.
