On the morning of July 10th, 2020, under the enthusiastic support of Ho Chi Minh City Urban Transport Operations Center and the guidance of Ph.D Nguyen Thi Thanh Huong - lecturer in Planning & Transport Management, together with Urban Transport Planning and Management class - course 58, has a field trip to the agency to learn practical knowledge. Center for Management of Urban Transport is abbreviated as UTMC, under the Department of Transport in Ho Chi Minh City. UTMC has the function of managing, operating, exploiting, and maintaining the Saigon River tunnel and the infrastructure of road transport infrastructure within the scope assigned by the Department of Transport.
In particular, the center also has the function of managing and operating the traffic monitoring and control system, as well as managing and deploying the application of intelligent transportation systems in the city, namely the application of the intelligent traffic system (ITS) in the management, operation, and operation of traffic (such as alerts, navigation, electronic tolls, optimization of traffic management, enhancing the efficiency of road works, support to public transportation ...).
Also, the center is responsible for organizing and regulating activities through the Saigon River tunnel in emergencies, coordinating with inspection agencies, and handling issues related to the order assurance as well as ensure traffic safety and order, protect road traffic works, control loads at vehicle load checking stations in the city.
The field trip helped students gain more knowledge about their field of study, prepare basic practical knowledge for students after graduation. Belong to enthusiastic guidance of the staff who are working at the center, sharing its work experience for the students. The trip also showed that the students are very energetic, enthusiastic, and confidently asking questions to the agencies where they go. From there, students can choose their fields of interest in the future.
